Reconnection Fee

4/15/2026

OFFICIAL NOTICE FROM THE MAYOR'S OFFICE

Effective May 1, 2026, the water service reconnection fee will increase from $20.00 to $75.00.

This fee has remained unchanged for approximately 20 years. Customers who pay their bills on time will not be affected by this change. However, accounts that become delinquent after two or more billing cycles may be subject to service disconnection.

As a courtesy, our office provides notifications prior to disconnection, even though such notice is not required. These notifications are intended to give customers the opportunity to settle their accounts or make payment arrangements before service is interrupted.

We have observed that many customers wait until after their water service has been disconnected to make payment and request same-day reconnection. This process requires significant staff time, vehicle use, and often pulls employees away from other essential duties.  Same-day reconnections will no longer occur.  It will be at least 24 to 48 hours before your water service will be re-connected.  This will only occur after you pay your bill and the re-connect fee of $75.00.

We strongly encourage any customer who is behind on their bill to contact City Hall and make arrangements before disconnection occurs.  Additionally, effective May 1, 2026, after-hours requests for water reconnection will no longer be handled through 911 calls should you call for reconnection.  If a true emergency does occur, these calls will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to manage resources responsibly and maintain efficient service for all residents.
